Extinction-level capitalism

Interesting read. First time I've come across this blog but have added it to my must-read briefing.

Extinction-Level Capitalism: A Citizen's Thoughts on AI Risk by Matthew Butterick. He is a lawyer who pioneered the first lawsuits against generative AI companies for using copyrighted works in training data.

The argument: AI is inherently political technology. The real risk is not Skynet. It is that AI, working as intended, will concentrate capital, replace labour at scale, and corrode liberal democracy by making citizens dependent on private companies for basic needs. No malfunction required.
